A forum presented by the Marin Interfaith Council with San Geronimo Valley Community Center.

Community organizations, churches, synagogues, and social service agencies are in the front lines helping increasing numbers of people in Marin who are dealing with the many problems associated with income inequality, housing, unemployment, children’s services, access to health services, educational equity and more.

The San Geronimo Valley Community Center has been recognized for its ability to establish strong relationships and collaborations with local faith organizations, other local nonprofits, and County agencies, to develop and sustain essential programs that address income inequality.  Come to the forum on February 8 to learn about the Center’s work and to explore ways that other community and neighborhood organizations can work together towards the Common Good.

$10-$20 donation suggested (no one turned away for lack of funds)

Gleaning Day at Green Gulch

On Sunday, October 9, 2011, fifty-one people from 7 different religious communities and traditions in Marin County, came together to glean left-over produce in the vegetable gardens at Green Gulch Farm Zen Center.  33 adults and 18 youth from Jewish, Presbyterian, Catholic, Buddhist, Christian Science, United Methodist and Episcopalian communities spent the afternoon learning about the Jewish concept of gleaning, the Zen Buddhist tradition of meditation and organic farming at Green Gulch.

We gleaned 70 boxes of kale, broccoli, chard, donating 20 boxes to St. Vincent de Paul Society Free Dining Room, and the other 50 boxes to Marin Organic.  Everyone enjoyed getting dirty and collecting abundant organic vegetables for our sisters and brothers who benefit from the free meals and food at St. Vincent’s and Marin Organic.
