Speaker:  Sheri Johnson, PhD, Professor of Psychology and the Director of the clinical science training program, University of California Berkeley Psychology Department.

 

Dr. Johnson is the director of the Cal Mania (CALM) program for mood management skills at the University of California Berkeley.  She has conducted research on psychological facets of bipolar disorder over the past twenty years.  Recent work includes findings that emotion-related impulsivity predicts suicidality more robustly than depression or other standard risk factors.  Most recent work involves creativity in bipolar disorder.

 

Her work has been funded by the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Science Foundation, and the National Cancer Institute.  She has published over 200 manuscripts, including publications in leading journals such as the Journal of Abnormal Psychology and the American Journal of Psychiatry.  She is co-author or co-editor of eight books, including Emotion and Psychopathology and a best-selling textbook on Abnormal Psychology (Wiley Press).  She is a fellow of the Association for Behavioral Medicine Research, the Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the American Psychological Society, and the past president of the Society for Research in Psychopathology.

This is a no fee event, open to the general public
