Executive director

Status: Exempt, Salaried Employee, Hours Negotiable 20-30 hours per week

 

The Marin Interfaith Council serves as a trusted convener that cultivates meaningful dialogue among diverse faith traditions, sharing the wisdom of the world's sacred traditions while fostering a community grounded in mutual understanding, respectful collaboration, and a shared commitment to the common good.

 

The Marin Interfaith Council is looking for an Executive Director. This is a part-time position, between 20-30 hours per week. This position offers plenty of flexibility, with the possibility of working from home or from the office. It will be necessary to go into the office, usually once a week. Depending on experience and the number of hours chosen to work, the annual salary will be between $60-75,000 per year. The Executive Director position reports to the Board of Directors and performs the functions, including but not limited to the following:

 

A)  BUILDING COMMUNITY

Goal:  Build and strengthen relationships and partnerships with and between faith communities, religious leaders, non-profits and other civic institutions and leaders in Marin County.

  1. Become familiar with Marin leaders in religious, educational, non-profit and civic institutions.

  2. Collaborate for religious, spiritual, interfaith education, endeavors and events.

  3. Facilitate religious and human rights conversation and dialogue with stated communities

  4. Represent MIC in special events, forums, conferences; serve as guest speaker.

 

B)  CELEBRATING FAITH TRADITIONS

Goal:  Increase Sharing & Learning among people of different faith traditions.

  1. Work with the board  to secure presenters and coordinate programming content for MIC events, such as forums, religious leaders’ gatherings, Emerging Visionaries or November Fundraiser, Prayer Breakfast, and other , interfaith events and celebrations. 

  2. Develop and maintain relationships with other Bay Area Interfaith councils.

 

C)  ADVOCATING JUSTICE

Goal:  Increase awareness of and social justice issues in Marin.

  1. Initiate Interfaith opportunities for actions that protect and foster the dignity of all human beings and the sacredness of all creation. 

  2. Support and strengthen MIC’s participation in the Marin Rapid Response Network.

  3. Speak with faith communities, civic and community groups to support justice issues in Marin County.

  4. Collaborate and partner with the Marin Organizing Committee

 

D)  EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP & OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

Goal:  Competently develop and implement MIC mission and programs.

  1. Lead and work with the MIC Board, staff and volunteers to secure and maintain funding through grants and fundraising, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and managing the annual budget.

  2. To guide the work of the MIC Board of Directors with strategic growth through helping the Board evolve their long-term strategy and vision.

  3. Have knowledge and understanding of technology, including social media, email marketing platforms, using cloud-based communication and document management, and a donor database.

  4. Direct and develop communications for MIC events and publicity. 

  5. Maintain regular contact with the bookkeeper to support and direct her work. 

 

E)  REQUIREMENTS

Goal: Successfully manage a small non-profit organization

1.  5+ years of leadership experience.

2.  Strong religious literacy across diverse traditions and/or familiarity with Marin faith-based and 

community institutions.
