A few weeks ago, my husband and I spent a week at a yoga retreat center on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. I am not much of a yoga person, preferring to run or ride much more, but we were invited by Ryan's former tech colleagues, whose sister moved down there 40 years ago, and never came back. Having lived in Costa Rica for three years and visiting Guatemala twice before, this was a trip I wasn't going to pass up.
Before the trip, the organizer of the trip, one of the brothers, let us know that there would be many activities in which we could take part, some of which were no-brainers, such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and hiking. Others were things I had never done before and about which I had some heavy skepticism.
