MIC's 20th Annual Emerging Visionaries event and fundraiser

Updated: Oct 13

Please join the Marin Interfaith Council for our 20th Annual Emerging Visionaries event and fundraiser. This year’s theme is “Navigating Turbulent Waters.” Though we all navigate through life’s challenges and our own personal difficulties, our nation appears to be imploding through deep, deep division, indiscriminate violence, and lack of empathy. We find ourselves truly in uncharted waters, and relying more on our faith to guide us. This year’s speakers were chosen to help us hear new voices in these turbulent times.

In 2019 Visionary Marin was changed to Emerging Visionaries, to allow us to hear voices that are emerging from within our community. Sometimes the voices have been here for many years already, and sometimes they are newer. This year brings a little of both.

Chloe Shin is a Korean American nursing student at Dominican University who will be graduating next spring. As a child of immigrants and a young adult getting ready to launch at this challenging time in our world, she offers us her unique perspective.

The Rev. Erin Wiens St. John grew up in San Rafael and I have known her for most of her life. She is curious, intelligent, and devoted to following God wherever she hears God’s voice. Recently ordained an Episcopal Priest, she has been active in faith and social justice issues while also navigating complicated health issues.

Zachary Twist has been on the MIC board for as many years as I have been working there, and I can’t imagine the board without his thoughtful input. As an active leader in the Muslim community, his voice is an important one to hear as our country witnesses a rise in Christian nationalism, and I am grateful for his wisdom.

Please join us on November 4th to hear these much-needed voices at Emerging Visionaries.
